THE ACUPUNCTURE FOUNDATION IRISH INSTITUTE OF CHINESE MEDICINE

Ireland’s premier Institute of Chinese Medicine , has been training practitioners in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) since 1987 in Milltown Park Campus, Dublin. Preparation for the course began in 1985.

The Foundation is committed to providing the highest standards of education and clinical training in Traditional Chinese Medicine and its application in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. These standards are underwritten by our Quality Assurance procedures.

Foundation graduates are professionally registered and working as professional practitioners with full entitlements all over Ireland, and Northern Ireland and in other European countries, the U.S. and Australia.

FULL PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION

The Foundation is professionally accredited in Ireland by AFPA, Acupuncture Professional Association and TCMCI. Records show the Foundation has approved college status with both organisations. The programme underwent a Post Accreditation Review and Inspection in June 2007 with full approval. The Foundation is also accredited by the Association of TCM (ATCM) in the UK and the Pan European Federation of TCM Societies in Europe (PEFOTS), having underwent a rigorous inspection process for the purpose of professional accreditation.
In Northern Ireland, the Foundation is approved by the Northern Ireland Association of TCM (N.I.A.T.C.M.)

Graduate treatments are recognised by VHI, BUPA, VIVAS and other healthcare insurers, according to their terms and conditions.

AFILIATION WITH NANJING UNIVERSITY OF CHINESE MEDICINE, CHINA

The Foundation has a long standing affiliation, since 1989, with the prestigious Nanjing University of TCM, a W.H.O. collaborating centre, and one of China`s top 5 TCM universities. Foundation permanent core curriculum teachers are internationally renowned lecturers and clinicians from Nanjing and Beijing Universities.

W.F.A.S. REPRESENTATIVE FOR IRELAND

The Foundation is a founder member of The World Federation of Acupuncture Societies (WFAS). WFAS is a World Health Organisation officially accredited body, established in Beijing 1987. There are W.F.A.S. professional Bodies in more than sixty countries.

Foundation Director, Bernadette Ward, Lic. Ac. C Ac. China, Dip Herbs was awarded the honorary title of visiting professor to Nanjing University of TCM, China in 2002. She is Chair of The Pan European Federation of TCM Societies Education Committee. Ms. Ward was recently elected as a vice president of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) on its International Education Advisory Committee. She has been in the forefront of TCM education and training for the past twenty years.
