Bachelor of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture and Moxabustion) BSc in Traditional Chinese Medicine. is subject to official approval of the QQI (Quality and Qualifications Agency) in Ireland and the Chinese Ministry of Education in China, in accordance with China`s Regulation of Overseas Education Program of Higher Institutions.

Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, Nanjing China (NUCM) in partnership with Acupuncture Foundation Irish Institute of Chinese Medicine (AFI).

Course Duration

4 years, Professional practice can commence following successful completion of 3 years to meet professional requirements. The Final award year can continue while in professional practice.

Weekends, online learning, outreach and clinical blocks Students jointly registered in both institutions.

The professional Licentiate in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is accredited by professional associations(s) in Ireland through the IAAB (Irish Acupuncture Accreditation Board) and the UK Traditional Chinese Medicine accreditation Board (TCMAB). This permits graduates to register professionally, be included in a professional indemnity insurance block, and be eligible for treatment rebates from VHI, AVIVA, Hibernian and other health provider insurance. Licentiate graduates can register and practice professionally in Ireland, Northern Ireland, UK and countries across the world. The Bachelor of Science degree to be awarded by the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, China meets the criteria for recognition of external awards and is subject to official approval of the QQI (Quality and Qualifications Agency) in Ireland and the Chinese Ministry of Education in China, in accordance with China`s regulation of overseas higher education institutions.

Entry Requirements

Holders of an Irish Leaving Certificate which shows passes in five approved subjects at ordinary level to include Maths, English and one science subject at grade C or above Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Holders of the European Baccalaureate UK: Holders of a General Certificate of Education with two passes at Advanced Level (to include Maths, English and Science at grade C or above) BTEC National: merit or above (science-based) Mature students over 23 who can demonstrate the capability and motivation to succeed on the course will be encouraged to apply. Evidence of recent study and knowledge of a scientific subjects and core skills in numeracy/mathematics and English will normally be required. For overseas students, evidence of an appropriate knowledge (Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate or international equivalent) of English (both written and spoken) will be required.
